Yale Town Football Club is a semi-professional association football club based in Yale, British Columbia and presently playing in the BCFA Regional Championship Southeast.
Rivalries
Yale Town's most notable rivalry is the Lower Canyon Derby with Boston Bar.
History
Established in 1898, Yale Town FC first played in the Fraser Valley Football League. The FVFL was merged with the Vancouver Football League in 1901 to create the Southern Football League, in which the club played until this league was in turn merged into the Mainland Football League in 1918. The club was a middling power in this period, performing well enough to remain in the top level, but never finishing in the top half of the table.
League competition
With the creation of the BCFL in 1929, Yale Town were assigned to the Regional Championship Southeast. In 1935 the club achieved a surprising second place finish in the Regional Southeast behind winners Kimberley Town, thus qualifying for the 1935 Division Three Qualification Competition. Although failing to earn promotion to the League, Yale's performance in this competition was admirable, finishing seventh, equal in points with Regional Northeast champions Yellowhead, and only one point behind Southwest champions Vancouver City and two behind Northwest winners Terrace, both of whom also failed to achieve promotion. After the end of the Second World War the club's fortunes declined, being relegated from the Regional Championship Southeast to Southeast Division Two in 1949 and to the lowest tier of regional football, Southeast Division Three, in 1957 where the club has played - with the exception of three seasons between 1971 and 1973 - ever since.
