The West Indies, officially the West Indies Federation, is a sovereign federal state comprising many islands in the Caribbean region of North America. The federation consists of nineteen provinces.
The West Indies is one of the eighteen British Commonwealth Realms and thus a member of the Commonwealth of Nations. It is also a member of the United Nations and the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation.
