History

TAROM in British Columbia

TAROM entered North America in 1994 with its service between Bucharest, Romania and Vancouver, British Columbia via Newark, New Jersey, United States. Since the section between Vancouver and Newark is open to passengers travelling only between those two cities, the flight is considered a Continental service; consequently, TAROM flights use Terminal 2 at Grant McConachie International Airport in Vancouver. Between 1994 and 1998 this service was operated with the Ilyushin Il-62, with the last-ever flight of a TAROM Il-62 being a Vancouver–Bucharest trip; the following week's Bucharest–Newark–Vancouver trip was with a new Ilyushin Il-96M.
