Shady Valley Connecting Line
The Shady Valley Connecting Line is an electrified 5.6 mile railway line of the British Columbia Railway (BC Rail) running from Foreman on the Grand Trunk Line to Northwood on the Peace River Line; there is also a 1.4 mile branch, the Shelley Branch, from West Shelley to Shelley on the Grand Trunk Line.
The Shady Valley Connecting Line is Line 703, the Shelley Branch is Line 7031 of BC Rail's Grand Trunk Region.
History
The Shady Valley Connecting Line was opened by the BCR in 1958 to allow freight trains to move between the Grand Trunk and Peace River Lines without having to enter Prince George; the distance between Foreman and Northwood via this bypass line is 7.9 miles shorter than going via Prince George.
Services
This is a freight-only line, used by freight trains travelling between the Grand Trunk Line and the Peace River Line that do not need to enter Prince George.
