Schedule of Railway Fares
The Schedule of Railway Fares defines the cost of tickets for all public-access passenger trains in British Columbia. Published every three years on 1 March by the Ministry of Labour, Industry & Railways, it applies to passenger services provided by all railway companies in BC.
The Schedule specifies the maximum price for travel per tariff-mile, according to seating class and train category. It also specifies the surcharge applied to short trips, according to the same criteria; the definition of a "short trip" can vary (variations must be approved by the Ministry), but in general it is defined as a trip between three or fewer stops. The tariff-mile is the actual distance-mile rounded to the nearest mile.
