Granisle is a village in north western central Interior of British Columbia, within the Bulkley-Nechako Regional District.
Granisle is situated on the western shore of Babine Lake, about thirty miles northeast of Houston as the crow flies. The satellite settlement of Topley Landing is about six miles to the south.
Commerce
There are copper mines owned by Granisle Copper and Noranda Mining on Bear Island and Sterrett Island in Babine Lake, which provide much of the employment for the residents of the village. The ore is taken from the mines by ship to a dock in Topley Landing, where it is transloaded to trains.
Transportation
Rail
Topley Landing Station is a freight-only station in Topley Landing, where copper ore from the mines is transferred from the ore boats to trains. It is the northern terminus of the 24-mile Topley Landing Branch, which connects to BC Rail's Grand Trunk Line at Topley.
Road
Granisle is the northern terminus of the Babine Lake Highway (BC Highway 118).
